Public Commissions

Bloomin Lovely
Designed and created for the Gravesham Borough Council Bloomin’ Lovely Festival 2020, this steel beehive features steel flowers and planters, blending the natural beauty of real flowers with the seemingly inflexible nature of metal. The contrast between delicate blooms and industrial steel highlights the harmony between nature and craftsmanship.

Medway Covid Commission
This collaborative project, created alongside two other artists, resulted in the creation of five life-sized sculptures crafted from steel washers and set atop concrete plinths. Each statue represented one of the key COVID guidelines:
-
Wash your hands
-
Keep 3m apart
-
Use a credit card, etc.
Inside each statue hung a glass heart, symbolizing hope and resilience during challenging times.

Hope Kent and Medway
"A Project of Hope" involved the creation of 300 raku-fired bowls, each uniquely decorated by the public during a series of free workshops. These bowls were then fired to reveal the beautiful, unpredictable results. The project encouraged participants to reflect on what truly matters to them, while embracing the inherent inconsistencies of the raku process. Although three bowls decorated in the same way can each turn out differently, this unpredictability became a powerful metaphor for life itself. Just as we often don’t get the outcomes we expect, we can still find beauty and meaning in the unexpected.

International Women's Day
Working with Chatham historic Dockyard to create work in workshops that reflects the theme of women in the dockyard

Rochester Cathedral Sun Room
A collaborative project with Kent Art and Wellbeing, Rochester Cathedral and the Royal Engineers Veterans Association, these five, beautiful stained glass panels were created in the studio by the veterans themselves over a period of six weeks.

Gravesham Light Festival 2023
This project involved the design, creation, and installation of 23 illuminated willow and tissue paper fish. The shoal was installed at St Andrews Arts Centre for the Light Festival.
As part of the commission, workshops in local schools were held to create a window installation that was also featured in the festival

My Medway
In collaboration with Rivermead Inclusive Trust, Nucleus Arts, and Chatham Historic Dockyard, we created a 12,000-piece puzzle—a powerful symbol of individuality and community.
Members of the public were invited to decorate a puzzle piece in a way that reflected their personality or something meaningful to them. Workshops were held in schools and public spaces, encouraging widespread participation.
The completed puzzle was mounted on large metal sheets and exhibited first at the Halpern Gallery before being installed at Chatham Historic Dockyard.
This project aimed to celebrate the uniqueness of each individual while emphasizing that when we come together as a community, we become stronger and even more beautiful.

Remembrance
The creation of a chicken wire sculpture in the form of a soldier from the great war. The piece is installed in St Georges Art Gallery year on year.
